Mel S. Mai, 90, of Bellmead, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 22 at a local nursing home. Services will be 11 a. m. Thursday, Dec. 24 at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Paul Stripling and Rev. Terry Wilkerson officiating. Burial will be at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, Dec. 23 at the funeral home. Mr. Mai was born June 26, 1919 in Waco to Mel C. and Nona (Loy) Mai and married Edna Pearl Perry April 22, 1944 in Waco. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII and was in the Real Estate Business. Mr. Mai worked at Oak Lawn Auto Sales and was a longtime Musician, playing semi professionally in the Waco area. He was a member of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Professional Musicians Association Local 72-147. Mel was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Edna Mai December 6, 1997 and son Larry W. Mai in 1992. Survivors include his daughter Linda Davis and husband Vernon of Bellmead, daughter in law Linda Mai of Waco, sister Laverne Hayes of Arizona, brother Frank Holley Mai of Waco, grandchildren Eric Case, Doug Mai, Cheri Mai and Jason Mai, 3 great grandchildren, 2 nieces and 1 cousin. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons.
