Merle DeRossett, 90, of Lacy-Lakeview passed away Friday, October 23, 2009 at St. Catherine Care Center. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday, October 26 at Waco Memorial Park Cemetery with Sam Armstrong and Rusty Kwast officiating. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 25 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Merle was born April 3, 1919 in Chetopa, KS to Dennis and Bessie (McDonald) DeRossett. Merle married Ruby (Blue) DeRossett on December 1, 1940 in Junction City, Kansas. He served in the Army during WWII, retiring from the Air Force after 26 years, member of Brazos Valley Wood Carving Club, owned DeRossett Heating and Air Conditioning and enjoyed traveling in an R.V. visiting family and friends. He was a member of the Northside Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. Survivors include his wife, Ruby DeRossett of Lacy-Lakeview, daughters, Merlene Warren and husband Milford of Speegleville, Candice Lewis and husband James of Ft. Worth, 6 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Catherine Hospice Care Center.
