Michael Wayne Burdett

Michael Wayne Burdett, 64, of Waco passed away on February 24, 2020. The visitation with the family will be on Saturday February 29th from 3pm to 5pm at Bellmead Funeral Home in Waco, Texas. Mike was born on October 13, 1955 in Corpus Christi, Tx to May and Joe Burdett. He attended school in Calallen and graduated in 1972 then attended Texas State Technical Institute for computer programming. Mike was in the pest control field for a couple of years before starting his own pest control business. He then worked for Fleetwood Manufacturing until he became disabled. Mike loved to be on a boat and it didnt matter if it was fresh water or salt water. He loved being able to look out his kitchen windows and see several deer in his yard. Mike enjoyed having a good bonfire with lots of people around. He enjoyed having his chickens, quail, and a good size garden to get fresh vegetables. In August 2019, Mike and his family went to Port Aransas to go channel fishing. He didnt catch anything, but he sure had fun with his son, brother, grandson and granddaughter. He enjoyed walking out his front door to see the river right in front of him. Mike was preceded in death by his mother, May Bluntzer; his step-father, August (Sonny) Bluntzer; father, Joe Burdett; sister Donna Brown; uncle, Jack Burdett; uncle, Elton Burdett; and ex-wife Karen Blankenship. He is survived by his son, Michael Burdett Jr. and wife Tiffany; Grandchildren: Cassandra Burdett, Gage Burdett Stokes, Chad Moran Jr., and Alessa Burdett; Special Niece that was like his daughter Beth Adkins; Brothers: Frank and wife Allison Burdett, Gary Burdett, and Bill Burdett; Sister, Lona Elliott; Nieces and Nephews: Jennifer, Jessica, James, Ricky, Danny, Mark, Denise, Kenneth, Marie, Laura, James, Heather, Benjamin along with many great-neices and great-nephews. Mike had many special people in his life but his kids, grandkids, and dog meant everything to him. His best friend and partner in crime was his granddaughter Alessa. She made his day just by walking into his house every morning to be his alarm clock. She was his spring flower and his sweetie pie. He liked talking with his grandson about how the world works. Mike loved talking talking politics with his son and Sean. He could talk about it for hours. He talked a lot about fishing with his grandson Chad and explaining how the world worked never forgetting to always call him a punk when he saw him. His dog Cocoa loved him unconditionally as most dogs do, licking his face every morning, making sure to leave no booger behind and staying by his side no matter who was there or what was happening. A Special thanks to Sean, Courtney, and Zoey for all of their help and support. The family would like to say thank you to the nurses and staff at Providence Congestive Heart Failure Clinic for all their help throughout the years. You guys are all amazing and wonderful people. Thank you to Angel, his home health attendant who was always there to make his breakfast and keep him company everyday. Also, Thank you to the business office and staff at Greenview Manor for taking care of Mike. A fundraiser has been set up on Mike's Facebook page to help with his final expenses.
