Mildred W. Plummer, 90, a longtime resident of Waco, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas. Graveside services will be 11 am Monday, April 16 at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Born 1921 in Stamford, TX. to parents William A. and Inez Wilson. Mildred received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Psychology and a Masters in Sociology from Baylor University. She married Roger S. Plummer in 1943 and together they had one daughter. During their marriage, they traveled the world and resided in Venezuela, Columbia and Libya. Mildred taught sociology and psychology at Cisco Junior College in the mid-1970s, prior to working for the Texas Department of Health and Human Services as a medical social worker for nearly two decades. She called on nursing homes in more than five countries, until her retirement. Mildred loved animals, crafting, bicycling, stamp collecting, reading genealogy, card games, music and classic film. She especially enjoyed continuing her life of service through community and professional organizations. She served on St. Alban's Episcopal Church Altar Guild and Alberta Lewis Guild. She served as president of the Waco Federation of Women's Clubs. She was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, The Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mildred was a member of Emerson Club, Phi Sigma Alpha, and Alpha Delta Kappa. She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Billie. She leaves her brother, Bennett A. Wilson and daughter, Pamela R. Martin, both of Dallas. She is also survived by granddaughters, Tracy Martin Taylor, Merritt Martin Barnhart and her husband Jacob Barnhart, and great-granddaughter, Cheza Taylor.
