Olan Lee Swank, 71 of Lorena, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010 at a local hospital. Services will be 10 am Wednesday, June 2 at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Buchanan and Rev. Roy Marshall officiating. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4 to 7 pm Tuesday June 1, at the funeral home. Olan and his twin brother Rolan were born June 16, 1938 in Lubbock, Texas to Earnest and Juanita (White) Swank. The family moved to Bellmead and Olan graduated from LaVega High School in 1956. He married Shirley Ann Trice on September 21, 1961 and went to work for the U.S. Postal Service in Waco and transferred to the Bulk Mail Center in Dallas in 1974. During this time he attended Dallas Baptist University, graduated Cum Laude on December 16, 1988 and retired from the Postal Service in November 1992. Olan was a member and past Master of Bellmead Masonic Lodge # 1329 and was a long time member of Bellmead 1st Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Frances Swank Jackson and two brothers Leland and John Bob Swank. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Shirley Swank, daughters Lee Ann and Sharon Swank; sister Janet Schuetz and husband, Alfred; brothers, Byron Swank, twin brother, Rolan Swank and wife, Joyce and Jerry Swank and wife Rose all of Waco; brother in law, Winn Jackson of East, TX; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers will be, Stephen, Paul and Kenneth Swank, Melvin Frost, Jason Schuetz, Kevin Pitt and Eric Maxwell.
