Olene Margaret (Kubitza) Richter was born December 3, 1922 near Axtell, Texas, the daughter of Charlie and Mary (Pavelka) Kubitza. She attended Axtell High School where she graduated as valedictorian. She was married to Roland Theodore Richter April 18, 1947. They had two children, Roland and Judy Carole. She worked for a time inspecting eggs and sewing cots for use in the war, then learned of a program for doing medical lab work and began training at Hillcrest Hospital becoming a certified laboratory technician. That began a forty-plus year long career working at Hillcrest, the VA, Central Texas Clinic on Columbus Avenue, then for an independent lab in the Hillcrest Medical Tower, retiring from Medical Lab Services of Waco in 1988. She attended church at Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church and Sparks Memorial Methodist Church. She and her husband traveled extensively by car after retirement visiting many of the Continental United States. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, volunteering and working with the Heart of Texas Fair and visiting with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Mary Kubitza and her husband Roland T. Richter.


She is survived by her children Judy Carole Bowling and husband Robert of Conroe, and Roland Richter and wife Paula Barber Richter of Woodway; Grandchildren William and wife Ashley Bowen Bowling of Austin, Carole Bowling Usener and husband Jarrod of Fredricksburg, Adrienne Perrin Walker and husband Brandon of Humble, Andrea Lea Perrin of Sun Valley, Idaho; and Lauren Perrin Smith and husband Rocky of Spring; great-grandchildren Ollin and Anli Bowling of Austin; Elliott Michael, Penelope Adrienne and Vivienne Dorothy Walker of Humble, Ranger Blake Smith of Spring; and Andon and Audie Usener of Fredericksburg.


Graveside funeral service will be held at Waco Memorial Park in Waco at 2:00 P.M. Thursday December 8, with visitation Wednesday December 7 from 5-7 P.M. at Bellmead Funeral Home.
