O'Neita (Ellis) Phelps Rogers passed away July 31, 2013 in New Bern, North Carolina. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm. Saturday, August 3, at Bellmead Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 2 pm. Sunday, August 4, at Little Flock Baptist Church, in Jewett. Burial will follow at Little Flock Cemetery, in Jewett.O'Neita was born in Jewett, Texas on July 6, 1925 to John (Roud) and Mary Ellis.She married Elbert Phelps in 1941 and they were married 48 years until his death. She was employed by the City of Waco as one of the first Meter Maids; she later obtained her nursing license and retired from the State of Texas Hospital System. O'Neita was a charter member of the Mr. and Mrs. Bass Club, Waco Bass Club, Good Sam Travel Club, and Friends International Travel Club.She traveled extensively and loved to take cruises. O'Neita married John Rogers in 1991, and they resided in South Carolina and Florida.She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; a brother; first husband, Elbert Phelps; and second husband John Rogers.Those left to cherish her memory include daughter, Linda Phelps McKee and husband, James, of Axtell; two sons, Dewey Phelps of New Bern, North Carolina and Ron Phelps and wife, Carol, of North Richland Hills, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Rose Martin; and many nieces and nephews.
