Oneta Lovella Mallon Sturdivant, 86, of Bellmead, passed away Sunday, Sept. 8 at her home. Services will be 3 pm Thursday, Sept. 12 at Sparks United Methodist Church with Rev. Linda Wimberly officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Oneta began her life on January 21, 1927 in Dora, Nolan County, Texas to parents Albert and Mattie (Rhodes) Mallon. She graduated from Wylie High School and during the War she worked for Elliotts Funeral Home, where she attended and transcribed the funeral services of Armed service men. She later joined the medical field and retired from Central Texas Pathology Laboratory. Oneta was a member of Sparks United Methodist Church where she served in many ways, choir, treasurer and women's group. Oneta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Max Sturdivant; daughter, Jacqueline Kay Sturdivant Jones; son in law, Randall Jones; 4 brothers, Alden, L.V., James Leonard and Troy; and nephew, Jim Mallon. Survivors include her grandson, Justin T. Jones, PhD and wife, April of Ft. Worth; great grandsons, Owen Jones and Eric Jones of Ft. Worth; sister, Patty Baack of Arizona; sister in law, Maurine Mallon of Abilene; 5 nieces, Paula Arendt and husband, Greg of Fredericksburg, Jane Mallon of Georgetown, Mary Smith and husband Jerry, Betty Holt of Dallas, Leigh Ann Smith of Ft. Worth, Judy Brown and husband, Bruce of Corpus Christi; 5 nephews, Tracy Baack and wife, Pam of Arizona, David Mallon and wife Julie of Round Rock, Randy Mallon of Austin Jim Sturdivant and wife Sandy of Oklahoma and Matt Smith and wife, Rachel of Tuscola.
