Opal C. Thomas, 92, of Bellmead left her family here on earth to join her family in heaven on Friday, December 2. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, December 5 at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lester Adams officiating. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 4 at the funeral home. Opal was born one of 10 children on March 20, 1919 in Groesbeck, Texas to John Ollie and Dora Mae (Clark) Downey. She married Woodrow Wilson Andrews and from this union were four children, Punch, Judy, Jane and Jack. Waco has been Opal's home since the early 1940's. Later in life Opal married Allen Thomas and the two of them had the time of their lives traveling in their travel trailer back and forth to the valley with their traveling buddies. She was a member of Oak Lawn Baptist Church and Elk Lodge of Elm Mott. Opal was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen Thomas; son James "Punch" Andrews; granddaughter, Pam Pickens; grandson, James Hinson; and all but 1 of her siblings. Survivors include her daughters, Jane Gilmore and husband Jim and Judy Dees all of Hewitt; son, Jack Andrews and wife Nancy of Bellmead; sister Olar Cole of Dallas; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bud and Mary Thomas. Pallbearers will be Ben and Colby Kinder, John and Andrew Dees and Clay and Chad Pickens. Honorary Pallbearers will be Curtis Bradshaw, Jack, Judy, Jane, Jim and Nancy.
