Roland T. Richter, 84, of Bellmead passed away Tuesday, August 4 at a local nursing home. Services will be 11 am Friday, August 7 at the First Evangelical Church with Chaplain Richard Rusk officiating. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Roland was born March 18, 1925 in Ross, Texas to Guss and Mary (Wiessinger) Richter. He served in the Navy on the USS ROBINSON DD 562 during WWII and married Olene Margaret Kubitza on April 18, 1947 in Gerald, Texas. He was a skilled carpenter for over 40 years leaving his mark on many houses, schools, churches and businesses in and around the Waco area and several buildings at Baylor University. Roland built homes for many of his friends and family and enjoyed working and spending time in his shop. He was a very active church member serving as deacon and elder. He was a past member of Local Union 622 and a member of First Evangelical Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jerry Richter and a sister Lora Mae Uptmore. Survivors include his wife, Olene Margaret Richter of Bellmead, daughter Judy Bowling and husband, Bobby of Conroe, son, Roland Richter and wife Paula of Woodway, sisters, Rose Marie Richter of Waco, Leona Jackson and husband Charles of Garland, brothers, Garlan Richter of Georgia, Harlan Richter and wife Vernell of Waco, Hershel Richter and wife Rose of Elm Mott, Larry Richter of Flower Mound, grandchildren William Bowling and Carole Usener, great grandchildren Andon and Audie Usener, and several nieces and nephews.
