Ruth Janette Varner McKinney, 83, of Waco, went to her heavenly home on Monday, September 24 after a battle with cancer. Graveside services will be 11 am Thursday, September 27, at White Rock Cemetery in Ross, TX with Jerry King and Grady Dollar officiating and music will be by Thomas Aguillar. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, September 26 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Ruth was born April 11, 1929 in Waco, Texas to George W. and Jewel P. (Mathews) Varner. She worked part time in the men's department at Cox's and Goldstein Miguel for several years. She was deeply devoted to her family and to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Ruth and her husband Henry were faithful members of Waco Bible Chapel from the time of its conception. She was never ashamed to share the love of Christ and his gift of grace through salvation to anyone she met. She will be greatly missed by many friends and her family. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Alex Abernathy, Earl Varner and Albert "Ab" Varner; and one son, James Glenn McKinney. Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Henry McKinney; sons, Wayne McKinney and wife, Linda of Pineville, LA, Terry McKinney, Steve C. McKinney and wife, Jackie, Tim McKinney and wife, Marilyn and Steven D. McKinney and wife, Angela all of Waco; brother, George W. Varner, III and wife, Evelyn of Grapevine; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A special blessing is wished for her devoted caregivers, Debbie Witt Wallace and Judy Rayvon from Hillcrest Scott & White Hospice.
