Sue Carol Stephens, 69, of Axtell, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 12 at a local nursing home. Services will be 11 am, Saturday, Oct. 16 at Olive Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Rex Bland officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Friday, Oct. 15 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Sue Carol was born May 28, 1941 in Clovis, New Mexico to J. A. and Waldene (Vaughan) Henson. She graduated from Clovis Senior High School and on December 31, 1958 she married Charles E. Stephens. Sue Carol attended Tarrant County College and retired from North Texas Bank in Ft. Worth after 30 years of service. After retiring they bought a farm in Axtell and she enjoyed several years of farming and gardening. She was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church and the Silver Bells Sunday School Class. Sue Carol was preceded in death by her father. Survivors include her husband Charles Stephens of Axtell; her mother Waldene Henson of Waco; daughter Tracy Pounds and husband Scott of Ft. Worth; son Monty Stephens of Waco; sister Barbara O'Haver and husband Terry of Arlington; brother Jerry Henson and wife Liz of LaVida, Co; grandchildren Rachel Chavez, Michael Curry, Sarah Shelton, Kristyn Curry, Hayden Pounds and Madison Pounds; great grandchild Kaden Chavez and many nieces and nephews.
