Tommie Dee Nix, 76, of Bellmead died Wednesday, April 3, surrounded by his loving family. Services will be 1 pm Saturday, April 6 at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with his oldest son, Dr. Preston Nix officiating. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Friday, April 5 at the funeral home. Tommie was born to Marion Charles and George Ann (Mims) Nix in Bruceville, TX. He began working at General Tire & Rubber Co. at the age of 19 and served there until retiring in 1986. He then attended Texas State Technical Institute. He landed a job with LaVega School District and upon his retirement in 2000 he discovered his passion for golf and creating craft master pieces. His love for the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers was evident to all who entered his home. Tommie was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Dorothy Ramsey Nix. Survivors include his children, Dr. Preston Nix and wife, Diane of Abita Springs, La, Kevin Nix of Hewitt, Eric Nix of Bruceville-Eddy, Amber Pendleton and husband, Larry of Tallahassee, FL and Tessa Arthur and husband, Tray of Lorena; grandchildren, Cioffi and Cassie Cubbison, Karissa Pendleton, Quaid Arthur, Rachel and Rebekah Nix and Copper and Mandolin Nix; his brother, Charles Lee Nix and wife, Mary Jean; his sister, Cora Ella Smith and husband Jackie; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a very special lady, Ruth Sholl. Pallbearers will be Lynn Roberts, Quaid Arthur, David Nix, Randall Smith, Justin Nix and Houston Hunt. Honorary pallbearer will be Copper Nix. The family would like to thank Providence Hospice for their compassion and care in his final hours.
