He lived almost all of his life in McLennan County. Born to share croppers, he learned early in life that he would have to struggle to survive. He began picking cotton at the age of five, as his large family worked hard at living through the great depression. He often told us stories of these hard times and it was obvious that he had suffered many lasting impression in his youth. At age of thirteen, he went to work in the Texas Textile Mill and worked there until they closed. He then worked for the City of Waco Street Department until his retirement in 1987 after 33 years. He was a past member of the Primrose Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Chester Lee Glenn and Elza Estes Glenn, sisters, Flora Katherine Glenn and Vera Odell Buckner and a grandson, William "Theo" Garvin. Survivors include his sister, Cleo Pack of Marbury, Alabama, Phyllis Whitley of Ft. Worth, Linda Linden of Ft. Worth, son Danny and his wife Helen Spurlin of Waco, daughter, Charlotte Garvin of Waco, 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren. His motto was that everyone should have to pick cotton so that they would appreciate what they have in life. He was a hard worker and enjoyed laughter.
