William Ora "Willie" Green, 93, of China Spring, passed away Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, in a local nursing home. Services will be 10 am Tuesday, Sept. 7 at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stephen Daywitt officiating. Burial will be at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Monday Sept. 6 at the funeral home. Willie was born June 27, 1917, in Richards, Texas to James Levi and Mary Alice (Thornton) Green. He married Melva Ann Morris on June 22, 1940 and served in the Army for 3 years. He was a truck driver all his life retiring from Exxon in June 1972 after 28 years and L. L. Sam's & Son in June 1992 after 20 years. Willie will always be remembered for his dedication to his church, Apostolic Tabernacle in China Spring, Texas. He served as Superintendent and Sunday School Bus Driver at North Waco United Pentecostal Church for many years. The greatest joy in his life was going to Church, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was an avid hunter and fisherman. His wife of 64 years Melva Green, a great granddaughter Christina Pierce, 5 brothers and 4 sisters all preceded him in death. Survivors include his sister Odessa Morris of Madisonville; daughters Melva Pierce and husband James of Bellmead, Sharon Collins and husband Gary of Oklahoma and Doris Edmonds and husband Carroll of China Spring; son Billy Green and wife "Tinker" of China Spring; 9 grandchildren, 17 and one on the way great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Paul and David Pierce, Donnie and Curtis Vaughn, Chris Barrett and Brian Edmonds.
