W.R. Tate, 81, of Waco, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 at a local nursing home. Funeral services will be 11 am Tuesday, January 22 at Robinson Drive United Methodist Church with Nathan Doss and Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Monday, January 21 at the funeral home. W.R. was born January 27, 1931 in Mertens, TX. to Samuel Leslie and Josie Pearl (Toliver) Tate. He married Carrol Lee Deaton in Waco.W. R. was a member of the Robinson Dr. United Methodist Church and enjoyed talking and telling stories with everyone. He also enjoyed horses, rodeo and the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Carrol Lee of Waco; daughters, Patricia Ann Ledbetter and husband Richard of Valley Mills, Terri Leigh Doss and husband Benny of Waco; sons, Robert and wife, Terry McOmber of Hull, Lonnie and wife, Kathy McOmber of Idaho, Ronnie and wife, Mary McOmber of California and Bubba Tate of Waco; sister, Bobbie Jo Murphy of Lorena: 19 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be, Thomas Jewell, Joe Jewell, Frank Jewell, Blane Murphy, Bryon Dixon and Paul Phillips. The family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff at Royal Manor and Providence Hospice for their exceptional care and love given to W.R.
