William Raymond "Billy" Dennis, 79, of Robinson, passed away, Monday, February 6, at Central Texas Veterans Healthcare System in Waco. Graveside services will be 2 pm Thursday, February 9, at Pavelka Cemetery with Monsignor Isidore Rozycki officiating. Rosary will be 7 pm Wednesday, February 8, at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel. Billy was born November 16, 1932 in Iredale, Texas to Joseph "J.D." and Albina (Prasifka) Dennis. He was a quarterback for LaVega High School until graduating, and went on to play football at Navarro Junior College. He served in the Army and married Joyce Tyler. Billy had worked at General Tire, Leo Dennis Construction, Downing Brothers Construction and Tonk Products (now Franklin Limestone) in Crawford. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, collecting arrowheads, reading Western Novels, watching hummingbirds and feeding his squirrels. He was a member of the American Legion Post #121 and volunteered at the Central Texas Healthcare Systems in Waco with his wife Joyce. Billy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce in 2002; and his brother, Lawrence "Hawkie" Dennis. Survivors include his sons, Charles "Wesley" Dennis and Curtis Dennis; daughter, Debbie Huggins and husband Bob; brothers, Leo Dennis and Joseph "Dan" Dennis; grandchildren, Melanie Kihnel, James Dennis, Dayle Raymond Dennis, Lisa Monthie and Amanda Smart; 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their appreciation to all the staff on Building 10B at the Central Texas Veterans Healthcare System in Waco for their care and support during his hospitalization.
