June 27, 1934 January 18, 2021 Willie passed away peacefully in his home on Monday at the age of 86. Willie is survived by his daughter Kay Keene, son-in-law Ray Keene, of Waco, Texas and grandson Seth Keene, of Round Rock, Texas and many family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Georgia Bryant Worley and his son David Worley. Willie was born in Hall Summit, Louisiana, the only child to Reverend Irvin Worley and Norma Reed. He graduated from Robeline High School in 1953. He was a star basketball player, and was the captain of the team his senior year. He married his high school sweetheart, Georgia Bryant on December 23, 1952. Together they had a loving family with David and Kay. After High School Willie worked with his Father helping on the farm, and several other jobs until 1956 when he was drafted into the Army, and served 18 months in Germany. He developed a love for communications by working in that field in the Army. After returning home in 1959, Willie went to work for Texaco as a telephone lineman. He ended up settling in Carencro, Louisiana where they all met lifelong friends and developed a taste for authentic Cajun cuisine. In 1969 life brought the Worley family back to Marthaville, Louisiana, where they purchased two chicken houses and raised over 42,000 chickens. Willie was always looking to provide his family with the best life possible, and in 1974 found an opportunity to work in the flourishing construction business in Texas, where he learned the business from eventual lifelong friends. In 1983 he built Mid-State Utilities and Waco Equipment, Inc. from the ground up in Waco, TX. He ran both businesses successfully until retirement in 1997, and the family business continues to run today. Willie enjoyed many hobbies, one of which continued on from his communications knowledge in the Army, when in 1964 he obtained is license in Amateur Radio (Ham Radio). He enjoyed talking to all of his buddies every morning, and his call sign was WA5PRH. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and camping throughout his life, and became an avid bow hunter in his mid-50's. He traveled all over the U.S. competing in numerous Archery Tournaments, and won several 1st place trophies and medals. In his retirement years, him and Georgia traveled to beautiful destinations across the country, and went on countless hunting and fishing trips in their RV. He was a member of the Associated General Contractors, Huaco Bowmen Archery Club, the Texas Field Archery Association, and Meier Settlement United Methodist Church. Willie was always a loving person to all, and a bit of prankster even in his final days. He will be dearly missed by many. Visitation will be Friday, January 22nd from 6-8 pm at Bellmead Funeral Home in Bellmead, TX. Funeral service will be Saturday, January 23rd at 10am at Meier Settlement United Methodist Church in Riesel, TX. A military burial service will follow at the church cemetery.
