Wylie E. Laney, 83, of Hewitt, passed away Friday, July 17, 2015. Graveside services will be 10 am Monday, July 20, at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Kip Osborne officiating. Visitation will be 3 to 5 pm Sunday, July 19, at Bellmead Funeral Home. Wylie was born April 23, 1932 in Victoria, Texas near Mart to John H. and Mildred (Atkinson) Laney. He served 4 years in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union. He married Mary E. Kelly October 5, 1952 in Waco. He was ordained a Deacon at Bellmead First Baptist Church and also served as a Deacon at Park Lake Baptist Church where he was currently a member. Wylie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Elizabeth Laney on April 22, 2012; an infant daughter Cindy; and a brother William Laney. Survivors include his son, Billy E. Laney and wife, Jan of Hewitt; grandchildren, Ryan Laney and wife Keri of Allen, Texas and Ashley Laney of Waco; and great granddaughter, Emma Grace Laney. Memorials may be made to Western Heights Baptist Church.
